Bacolod nutrition committee gets Green Banner Seal of Compliance

The Sangguniang Panlungsod has commended the Bacolod City Nutrition Committee after it was conferred and awarded the 2022 Green Banner Seal of Compliance for the city’s nutrition program, during the Regional Nutrition awarding ceremony in Iloilo City Nov. 28.

The committee scored above average in the recent evaluation on nutrition interventions/services, nutritional status in the local government, vision and mission, adoption of nutrition laws and policies, governance and organizational structure, and Local Nutrition Committee management functions, among others, Councilor Kalaw Puentevella said in a resolution approved by the SP Wednesday.

The SP thanked all members of the City Nutrition Committee “for spearheading the city’s programs to combat and completely eradicate instances of malnutrition, especially among children in Bacolod.”

The city said the award was received by Dr. Rosalie Deocampo, Lora Clarin, and nutritionist dietitians Myrrah Lei Unson and Beverly Gatchalian, adding the committee is chaired by Mayor Alfredo Benitez and co-chaired by Puentevella.

The Barangay Sum-ag Nutrition Committee, represented by kagawad Manuel Carmona and City Outstanding barangay nutrition scholar Ma. Christine Eder, was also recognized during the ceremony, the city said Nov. 30.

The Regional Nutrition awarding ceremony is an annual event held by the National Nutrition Council Regional Office VI to recognize exemplary efforts in implementing the nutrition programs of local government units and local nutrition focal points across Western Visayas, Puentevella said. | CGC
