The provincial government of Negros Occidental will again honor another batch of outstanding Negrenses, in the celebration of the 125th Cinco De Noviembre celebration on Nov. 5 at the Negros Residences Function Hall in Bacolod City.
The eight outstanding Negrenses to be honored are Mansueto “Onyok” Velasco, Juan Carlos “Carlo” Tanpinco Piccio, Leonor Kilayko, Dolores Rebatado Ceralbo, Raffy Berina, Chris Millado, Marichu Granada Tellano and Victorino “Ino” Mapa Manalo.
Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Lacson and Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer will lead the “Pasidungog Night” at the Negros Residences Function Hall on Nov. 5, 2021 at 6 p.m.
Velasco, of Bago City, a boxing Silver Medalist in the 1996 Summer Olympics and also a boxing Gold Medalist in 1994 Asian Games, actor comedian, and Piccio, of Bacolod City, a Bronze, Silver and Gold Medalist in swimming in the 1999, 2001and 2003 Southeast Asian Games, who also represented the Philippines at the 2000 Summer Olympics, are both 2023 Cinco de Noviembre awardees for Sports;
Kilayko, of Talisay City, a Filipino concert pianist, for music; Ceralbo, of Don Salvador Benedicto, a national winner for 2022 Search for Outstanding Rural Women, for business;
Berina, a Master Teacher 1 of EB Magalona National High School, for Education;
Millado, of Victorias City, Vice President and Artistic Director of the Cultural Center of the Philippines; Manalo, of Talisay City/Silay City/La Castellana, chairman of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCAA), and Tellano, of Kabankalan City, NCAA deputy executive director, all for Preservation and Promotion of History, Heritage and Culture.
Manalo was also recognized for promoting art among the youth, Tellano for leading the conceptualization and implementation of the Philippine Cultural Statistics framework, and Millado for leading the implementation of artistic programming in music, theater, dance, visual arts, literature, cinema and festivals.
On the other hand, Ceralbo is a member of the Board of Fairtrade Philippines, which enabled her to become a member of the Network of Asia Pacific Producers, for her to represent and campaign their products in Thailand, Japan and Germany in 2019. | GB
