A 12-hour power outage will be experienced by Bacolod consumers being serviced by the Gonzaga and Reclamation substations on Oct. 30, the Central Negros Electric Cooperative Inc. said Oct. 26.

The brownout, which will start at 6.m. on Sunday, will affect Reclamation feeders 1 to 5, and the Asdes-Gonzaga feeders 1 to 6, to give way to preventive maintenance of the 30 megavolt-ampere (MVA) Gonzaga substation and 20MVA Reclamation substation, and related accessories.

Ceneco acting general manager Ervin Stan Leo Ticar said that there will also be replacements of the bare wire and rotten three-phase primary poles, as well as tree clearing activities.

In case of any power interruption, electrical switch/es should be turned off for safety reasons, Ticar said in the advisory, adding that when electricity supply resumes, consumers should wait for 10 to 15 minutes before switching on all electrical appliances and facilities to avoid a power surge.

The Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative also set a 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. interruption on Saturday, Oct. 29.

In its advisory, the whole of Candoni and parts of Cauayan, including barangays Camindangan and Talacdan; barangays Tabu, Balicotoc, and portion of Dancalan in Ilog; Camindangan in Sipalay, and Damutan in Hinoba-an will be affected by the downtime.

Noceco said its personnel will replace rotten poles and insulators in Brgy. Tabu, Ilog.

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, meanwhile, announced a 12-hour power interruption in parts of Negros Oriental, also on Oct. 29.

The outage, also starting at 6 a.m., will affect consumers of the Negros Oriental II Electric Cooperative, with maintenance activities along the Dauin-Siaton 69kV line./CGC
