The decision of the Commission on Elections First Division to dismiss the consolidated petitions seeking to disqualify former senator Bongbong Marcos Jr. from the presidential race in May is a morale booster for his supporters and will inspire a full-blast campaign in the provinces.

This was the reaction of Negros Occidental Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, a staunch supporter of Marcos, adding that the Comelec ruling will make them stronger as they expect that more will support BBM’s candidacy.

Let the voters decide on the president they want since all of the candidates are legally qualified, he added.

Ferrer said the local BBM group already received the support of sugar planters, urban poor, and multi-sectoral organizations in the last meeting of the leaders and those who will manage the campaign of Marcos and vice presidential bet Sara Duterte-Carpio in Negros.

The vice governor said earlier that 85 percent of local officials already expressed their intention to support the Marcos-Duterte ticket. These include mayors, councilors, and barangay captains from the 601 barangays of Negros Occidental.

He added that even if the petitioners elevate the issue to the Comelec en banc or the Supreme Court, it will not affect the scheduled plans and activities of the group to bring BBM to Malacañang.
