The intensified campaign against illegal drugs of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office and the Bacolod City Police Office in 2021 led to the confiscation of P59 million worth of suspected shabu.
Of the illegal drugs haul, NOCPPO seized P37 million in suspected shabu from 821 arrested drug suspects, while P22 million worth of illegal drugs were confiscated by BCPO operatives from 750 drug personalities, police records show.
P/Lt. Abegael Donasco, NOCPPO deputy spokesperson, reported yesterday that they also neutralized four drug groups in the province in the past several years, with members of the Bugalon and Virtusio drug groups now being hunted.
In the campaign against loose firearms, NOCPPO recovered 163 assorted firearms from 136 arrested individuals, while BCPO seized 25 firearms, and arrested 22 violators.
P/Lt. Liberty Indiape, deputy public information officer of BCPO, also reported that 103 firearms were surrendered and 34 others deposited to BCPO for safekeeping.
Indiape said that 178 persons were arrested for illegal gambling in Bacolod, while NOCPPO netted 2,758 illegal gambling violators that resulted in the confiscation of P2.6 million in bet money.
A total of 2,624 wanted persons were arrested by NOCPPO, while BCPO apprehended 111 individuals with pending arrest warrants for various offenses. | GB
