The Citizens Battle Against Corruption (CIBAC) Partylist in mourning the death of its 3rd nominee, former Bacolod councilor Atty. Lyndon Caña Nov. 4.

The Office of Senator Joel Villanueva said in a statement that Atty. Caña was a devoted person and his professional career focused in helping the war against corruption by promoting good governance and making transparency and accountability real in government.

“Caña did not stand quietly in the midst of immorality, indecency, and the utter disregard for Filipino values in the many facets of our society,” it said, adding that since the founding of CIBAC in 1998, Caña served as one of its volunteer legal counsels.

Villanueva, president of the CIBAC Partylist, said the “death of Atty. Caña will only deepen CIBAC’s cause to pursue its uncompromised and independent stand against corruption.”

“We take consolation in how he exemplified the ideals espoused for clean, honest, and efficient service to the people,” he added.

Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, meanwhile, said that Caña touched so many lives in both public and private.

“Atty. Caña was not just a public servant but a civic and religious leader. Described by some as the bold and passionate mediator, he could be a determined and passionate adversary but one who tempered his action with discernment,” Leonardia said. — MML
