The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO NIR) is mobilizing 600 police personnel across the region to guarantee a peaceful, orderly, and secure environment for the fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday, July 27.
In a statement, the PRO-NIR said the forces have been strategically positioned to maintain public order, intensify monitoring efforts, and allow for an immediate response to any emerging security concern.
All regional units have been placed on high alert, working in tandem with local government units, partner agencies, and force multipliers to establish a unified security blanket before, during, and after the national event.
PRO-NIR Director Brig. Gen. Romano Cardiño emphasized that public safety remains the organization’s foremost priority.
He said that while the police respect and uphold every citizen’s constitutional right to freedom of speech and peaceful assembly, they remain committed to protecting those rights.
“We call on everyone to exercise these freedoms responsibly and within the bounds of the law,” he added. | GPB
