Five component cities in Negros Occidental were feted in the 2024 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) awards, held Nov. 4 at the Iloilo Convention Center, the Department of Trade and Industry in Western Visayas said.
Sagay City won in the Infrastructure and Resiliency CMCI pillars, and Cadiz City in the Government Efficiency pillar.
Most improved component cities are Victorias, Kabankalan, and Escalante, the DTI said.
The CMCI assesses LGU performance across five critical pillars, namely, Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency, Infrastructure, Resiliency, and Innovation, showcasing how communities strive for excellence.
“Congratulations to all our CMCI awardees for their dedication to fostering competitive, resilient, and innovative communities in Western Visayas,” the DTI6 said in a post.
CMCI is an annual ranking that measures the performance of cities and municipalities based on the five pillars, and recognizes local government units for efforts and initiatives to enhance their competitiveness, the DTI said. | CGC
