5 dengue deaths in NegOcc

Negros Occidental logged five new dengue-related deaths, as cases further rose to 3,648, from Jan. 1 to Aug. 13 this year, the Department of Health-Western Visayas said.

The five reported fatalities between Aug. 7 and 13, based on the DOH–WV Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit Morbidity Week 32, brings to 21 the reported deaths in Negros Occidental.

Bacolod City logged 620 cases, with eight deaths in the same period.

Negros Occidental remains with the highest number of dengue cases and related deaths, DOH-WV records further showed. It rose from 310 cases last year to the present 3,648 cases.

In the whole Western Visayas, 10,273 cases with 59 dengue deaths were logged, the DOH report added./GB
