The 40 hours, or five-day work schedule, for employees of the provincial government of Negros Occidental, will resume on Nov. 9.

Citing the reduction of COVID-19 cases in Bacolod City, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson ordered all Capitol employees to resume work for eight hours a day for five days a week, excluding time for lunch.

Capitol employees are on a four-day work week, from Monday to Thursday, the past few months, following the spike in the number of COVID-19 cases in Bacolod City.

As of Nov. 3, Bacolod City reported that it only has 278 active cases.

Since the start of the pandemic, Bacolod recorded 4,856 confirmed cases, and 4,444 had already recovered, equivalent to 91.52 percent, with 134 deaths.

The Bacolod City Health Office reported earlier that COVID-19 cases locally went down from an average of 50 cases daily in September to just 25 in the last weeks of October, until the present.

It was attributed to the establishment of the Emergency Operations Center by Inter-Agency Task Force Visayas chief implementer, retired Gen. Melquiades Feliciano. -GPB
