Negros Occidental has 48,453 new voters, as of July 15, a report from the Commission on Elections showed.

The province now has 1,954,679 voters, although the number is expected to increase as the registration of voters will continue until Sept. 30 this year.

The filing of certificate of candidacy for the 2025 midterm elections is slated Oct. 1 to 8.

On the other hand, the highly urbanized Bacolod City logged 14,954 new voters, an increase of 340,828, the Comelec report further showed.

The Comelec encourages not only new voters, but also those who were delisted from the poll body’s list of voters, to take advantage of the ongoing registration so they could participate in the next elections.

Reasons for the delisting were failure to vote in two successive preceding regular elections by court order, loss of Filipino citizenship, and having non-valid documents.

The Comelec in Negros Occidental earlier reported that it has purged 178, 328 persons from its list of voters for failure to vote in two successive elections. | GB
