Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo has approved the proposed cash incentives for all the 315 winning athletes, campus journalists, and representatives of Dumaguete City in the recently-concluded Central Visayas Regional Athletic Associations Meet and the Regional School Press Conference.

The incentives include P5,000 each gold medalist, P4,000 for silver medalist, and P3,000 bronze winners.

All the winning coaches, assistant coaches, and coordinators during the CVIRAA 2025 held in Bayawan City, and the RSPC in Siquijor, are also entitled to the cash incentives, Remollo said, based on the list submitted by City Schools Division superintendent, Dr. Edmark Ian Cabio, of Deped Dumaguete.

The mayor said the cash incentive is the local government’s way of showing appreciation to the outstanding performances of the athletes and campus journalists, who brought honor and pride to Dumaguete, with the hope of motivating them to do their best in future competitions, the city said May 9.

The Dumaguete City Division placed third runner-up overall, and first runner-up overall in the Secondary Division in the 2025 CVIRAA Meet.

Team Chada Dumaguete garnered 36 gold, 45 silver, and 40 bronze medals, enough to be included in the Top 5 among the 20 schools divisions.

The breakdown of medalists, as verified by Deped Dumaguete includes, for CVIRAA: gold – 71, silver – 93, and bronze – 69; while for RSPC: gold – 14, silver – 8, and bronze – 60.

Remollo said the cash incentives will be released once the appropriation ordinance is passed by the Sangguniang Panlungsod and the required process is completed.

Additional winners of the Regional Festival of Talents will also receive cash incentives once the list and letter-request will be submitted by Deped Dumaguete to the Office of the Mayor for appropriate action.

This is the continuation of the local government’s consistent support to the student-athletes, coaches, and technical officials as they were also provided with free food, transportation, and full set of uniforms to boost the morale of the delegates as they compete for sports excellence under the Dumaguete City banner during the 2025 CVIRAA Meet. ||
