The 30th Panaad sa Negros Festival is slated this coming April 13 to 19.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said the provincial government has allocated P50 million for this year’s “festival of all festivals in Negros Occidental”.

Lacson said the participating local government units (LGUs) will each receive a subsidy from the provincial government, which will be taken from the P50 million festival budget.

The Panaad sa Negros Festival showcases the festivals, history, cultural heritage, commerce, industry, and tourism potential of all cities and municipalities in Negros Occidental, including the highly-urbanized Bacolod City.

Lacson said he is hoping that all LGUs will go all out in participating in the festival’s 30th year.

He added that they are finalizing plans for the 30th Panaad sa Negros Festival, which is traditionally being held at the Panaad Park and Sports Complex in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod, where the 32 booths of various LGUs are located, to showcase their products and tourist destinations.

The festival’s name, “Panaad”, is derived from the Hiligaynon word for “vow” or “promise”.

It symbolizes thanksgiving to Divine Providence and the fulfillment of vows in exchange for a good life. | GB
