A septuagenarian and a person with disability (PWD) were among those killed in separate incidents on Christmas Day in Negros Occidental.
A 74-year-old man was declared dead on arrival at a hospital after he was hacked by a 38-year-old suspect at Purok Paghidaet in Barangay Tampalon, Kabankalan City.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim and his son were on their way home when they were confronted by the assailant, identified only as a certain “Born”, who is a Small Town Lottery agent.
He attempted to hack the victim’s son, but the latter managed to escape.
The victim, who was left behind, was instead attacked hacked by the suspect, who fled immediately.
A 49-year-old man was found dead by her wife at their backyard at Sitio Cabilocan, Barangay Camindangan in Sipalay City.
The victim, who had gunshot injuries in the head and chest, was also declared dead on arrival at the Sipalay City Health Office, the police reported.
In Hinoba-an, a PWD was reported to have been burned to death at Purok 2 in Barangay Asia.
According to police report, the 39-year- old amputee died after his house was gutted by fire.
Before the incident, the victim and his stepson, who reported the incident, were having a drinking session. | GB
