3 killed in shooting incidents

A series of shooting incidents in Negros Occidental over the weekend claimed the lives of three persons.

The identities of the gunmen have yet to be known by the police, as of press time.

In San Enrique town, five assailants entered the room of Ryan Villanueva at Wisik Fishing Lagoon and Restaurant Family Resort and shot him dead early morning Sunday, Feb. 14.

Maj. Renante Salgado, chief of San Enrique Municipal Police Station, said that the victim, a resident of Barangay 1, La Carlota City, had just celebrated his birthday on Saturday, Feb. 13. 

He said in a radio interview that Villanueva sustained 28 gunshot wounds.

At around 2:45 a.m., the victim and his 25-year-old female companion were eating when the armed men entered the room.

They asked the woman to leave and told the victim to lie face down on the floor and fired at him.

Salgado said they are investigating the report that the victim is included in the local drugs watchlist.

On Feb. 12, a 59-year-old farmer identified as Rodney Moya Magbanua was found dead at Purok Cubay in Sitio Mambaya-on, Barangay Inapoy, Kabankalan City.

Magbanua succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.

His body was discovered by Inapoy barangay Chairman Roberto Tarrosan, who reported the incident to the police.

Two bullet shells of caliber 9mm pistol were recovered at the crime scene.

In Sipalay City, an unidentified gunman on a motorcycle shot Bonnen Garcia in Purok Camanggos, Barangay Maricalum also on Friday.

Garcia, 30, who succumbed to multiple gunshot injuries, was declared dead on arrival at the Sipalay infirmary, the police said.

Recovered from the scene of incident were two bullet shells of 9mm pistol. – GB
