26 Negrenses nabbed for gun ban violation

Some 26 individuals have been identified as violators of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban in Negros Occidental as of Oct. 2, according to a report of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6.

Of the arrested suspects, 19 were listed by the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) while seven were recorded by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).

All over Western Visayas, the PRO-6 reported that a total of 69 violators were arrested, including 64 civilians, three security guards, and two members of other law enforcement agencies.

The Negros Occidental PPO still has the most number of arrests, which rose to 19 violators; Iloilo PPO – 16; Iloilo CPO – nine; Capiz PPO and BCPO – seven each; Aklan PPO – six; Guimaras PPO – three;   Antique PPO and Regional Mobile Force Battalion – one each.

In a statement, PBrig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor, regional director of PRO-6, lauded the accomplishments of various police units in the strict implementation of the Comelec gun ban. | GB
