Dengue cases in Negros Occidental have increased to 250, with 36 more cases logged from March 17 to 23, a report of the Department of Health-Western Visayas (DOH-6) showed.
However, there was no dengue-related death on the said period.
DOH-6 reported 1,830 dengue cases all over the region from January to March 23 this year, registering an increase of five percent, compared to 1,742 cases for the same period last year.
It also recorded three deaths.
The province of Iloilo logged the most number of dengue cases at 559; Aklan – 306; Capiz – 260; Negros Occidental – 250; Antique – 171; Iloilo City – 160; Guimaras – 79; and Bacolod City – 45.
The DOH-6 report also noted an increased attack rate of dengue in the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Iloilo and Guimaras and Iloilo City.
It also reported a clustering of dengue cases in 26 barangays of Western Visayas. | GB
