All 22 election officers affected by the reshuffling in Negros Occidental in line with the May 9 polls have assumed their new posts.
Provincial Election Supervisor, Atty. Robert Salazar, said the order for their new assignments was effective Jan. 19, adding that the EOs received their respective instructions, based on the calendar of the Commission on Elections in preparation for the National and Local Elections.
Salazar said the certification of the voters’ list in every locality is the first thing that the new EO should review. They should introduce and convene with other members of the Election Registration Board for the certification of the voters’ list, he added.
The EO should also make the appointments of members of the Electoral Board, formerly called the Board of Election Inspectors, composed of teachers, who will facilitate in the election procedure.
It is also the EO’s task to constitute the composition of the Board of Canvassers, Salazar said.
This month, every election office will conduct an examination to the technical support staff, who will assist in the installation and in making sure the effectiveness of the Vote Counting Machine. | MML
