There are now 377,318 Negrosanons fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, or 21 percent of the targeted 1.8 million, as of Oct. 18, Provincial Administrator, Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, said.

La Carlota topped the vaccination performance at 42 percent, with 20,016 out of 47,125 target population already vaccinated.

Silay City vaccinated 37 percent of its target population, or 34,698 out of 52,779 residents, followed by Victorias at 36 percent, Talisay City 34 percent, and Pulupandan with a 33 percent vaccination performance.

The rest of the LGUs logged more than 20 percent.

For LGUs with the most number of vaccinated residents, Silay top the list, followed by Sagay and Talisay.

The provincial government continuously appeals to LGUs to employ strategies to encourage residents to get vaccinated.

Diaz said the mutation of the virus has resulted in more severe effects for those infected, and put in danger the lives, particularly of those unvaccinated. — MML
