Eighteen local government units (LGUs) in Negros Occidental were among the 79 localities in Western Visayas which passed the 2024 Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA) conducted by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The CFLGA passers are highly-urbanized Bacolod City, component cities of Bago, Cadiz, Himamaylan, La Carlota, Sagay, San Carlos, Silay, Talisay and Victorias, municipalities of E.B. Magalona, Calatrava, Hinigaran, Hinoba-an, Isabela, La Castellana, Manapla and Murcia.
The CFLGA is an annual assessment tool used to evaluate how effectively LGUs implement child-focused policies and programs.
Evaluating performance across five child-focused areas, it is designed to promote and ensure the rights, welfare, and development of children in local communities.
The 2024 CFLGA audited the LGUs’ 2022 performance.
There is a noted increase in the number of passers in 2024, from 66 LGUs in the previous assessment period.
“Let this milestone continue to inspire you and other LGUs to prioritize children’s needs and foster environments where they can reach their full potential,” a statement from the DILG provincial office said. | GB
