The campaign against illegal gambling in Negros Occidental netted 167 violators from Aug. 1 to 15, according to a report of the Police Regional Office-6.
Of the total violators, 132 were accounted for by the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) while the 35 others were arrested by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).
NOCPPO and BCPO ranked first and second, respectively, in the regional campaign against illegal gambling in terms of arrested violators.
It is followed by Iloilo City Police Office and Iloilo PPO at 25 each; Antique Police Provincial Office, 16; Guimaras PPO, four; and Capiz and Aklan PPOs, one each.
A total of 239 violators were arrested all over Western Visayas, which also yielded P71,644 in cash bets.
In a statement, PBrig. Jack Wanky, police regional director of Western Visayas, rallied police commanders to sustain the momentum in the campaign against illegal gambling. | GB
