155 drug suspects nabbed, P25.7-M in shabu seized

The 15-day anti-illegal drug operations in Western Visayas resulted in the arrest of 155 drug suspects and the confiscation of 3.7 kilos of suspected shabu valued at P25.7 million, the Police Regional Office-6 said in a report.

Among the neutralized suspects, 58 were arrested by the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) while the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) accounted for 21 drug personalities.

The Iloilo PPO arrested 27 drug suspects; Iloilo City Police Office, 16; Capiz PPO, 11; Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU)-6, 10;   Guimaras PPO, 7; Aklan PPO, 3; and Antique PPO, 2.

While he lauded the performance of all police units, PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky, police regional director, urged them to increase the intensity of their campaign against illegal drugs.

Among the units, the BCPO ranked number one in terms of recovered illegal drugs, with the seizure of about 1,310 grams of suspected shabu worth P8.9 million.

It is followed by the RPDEU-6 with the recovery of about 928 grams of shabu valued at P6.3 million, and Iloilo PPO, 814 grams worth P5.5 million.

This is the result of 122 anti-drug operations conducted from July 1 to 15, the report added.

“May the result of our endeavor serve as a warning to the remaining illegal drug pedders to stop outright. If you opt continue, surely the arm of the law will catch up with you,” Wanky said. | GB
