The Police Regional Office 6 reported that 136 of its 157 police personnel and civilian employees infected by COVID-19 have already recovered and resumed their duties.
Regional police spokesperson, P/Lt. Col. Joem Malong, said there are still 20 active cases, with one death.
Of the 157 cases, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office has 36, Bacolod City Police Office, 26; PRO 6 headquarters, 37; Capiz Police Provincial Office, 23; Iloilo City Police Office, 15; Iloilo Police Provincial Office, 14; Non-Uniformed Personnel, 10; and one each from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 and the Aklan Police Provincial Office.
The Guimaras and Antique police provincial offices have remained COVID-free, as of this time.
P/Lt. Abegael Donasco, spokesperson of the NOCPPO, reported that 23 police personnel, who fully recovered from the virus infection recently donated blood for plasma extraction to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital blood bank in Bacolod City, in line with the NOCPPO’s “Plasma Mo, Armas Ko Batuk sa COVID-19” program.
The convalescent plasma of persons who have recovered from the disease contains antibodies that can be transferred to the critically-ill COVID-19 patients, known as convalescent plasma therapy, Donasco said. – GPB
