The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office logged the most number of recovered firearms for August this year, at 118, while the Bacolod City Police Office seized 16 guns in the same period.
Of the 375 assorted firearms recovered all over Western Visayas, 84 were confiscated in law enforcement operations while the 291 others were surrendered to the police, a statement from the Police Regional Office 6 said.
In the same period, the police arrested 63 suspects.
NOCPPO nabbed 23 suspects, with two others accounted for by BCPO.
The Iloilo Police Provincial Office, on the other hand, recovered 72 firearms and nabbed 10 suspects, Antique Police Provincial Office recovered 55 guns and arrested four suspects, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 with 36 firearms recovered and arrested two suspects;
Capiz Police Provincial Office recovered 31 assorted guns, with 11 suspects arrested, Iloilo City Police Office logged two arrested suspects and recovered 12 guns, while the Guimaras PPO accounted for nine firearms, with four arrested suspects.
In a statement, PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky, regional police director of Western Visayas, ordered the police to further strengthen their campaign, which he said is a big factor in preventing the commission of the crime with the use of guns. | GB
