Thirteen more government employees in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental have been tested positive for the use of illegal drugs, Mayor Renato Gustilo said yesterday.
All of them are job order employees, he added.
The city government has been regularly conducting drug testing in compliance of the Civil Service Commission’s mandate for a drug-free workplace in the government.
This month alone, a total of 707 city government employees were subjected to a series of surprised drug tests, the mayor said.
Gustilo said that the job orders tested positive for illegal drug use would be dismissed from their respective assignments.
Regular and job order employees who underwent drug testing are assigned at the Public Employment Service Office, Information Technology and Computer Service Office, City Environment and Management Office, People’s Park Management Office, City Engineering Department, Traffic Management Authority, Consuelo Alger Community Center and even members of the San Carlos City Anti-Drug Abuse Council.
Last year, 20 other city government employees also tested positive for illegal drugs. | GB
