Bacolod City Administrator Lucille Gelvolea thanked the Sangguniang Panlungsod Jan. 10 for concurring with her appointment as co-terminus department head II.

Gelvolea appeared before the SP during its regular session this afternoon, and the sanggunian concurred with her appointment to the post in about three minutes.

“Thank you very much and expect that I will be consulting a lot with you in terms of recommendations on the legislative components of programs set for Bacolod,” she told the SP after her concurrence.

Mayor Alfredo Benitez appointed Gelvolea to the post Jan. 2, and asked the SP for concurrence the following day in time for the sanggunian’s first session for this year, but action was deferred as the SP wanted her to be present and answer queries, as per protocol.

Gelvolea, who will be paid P116,000 per month, replaced Atty. Pacifico Maghari III, who resigned effective Nov. 1 after heading the City Administrator’s Office since the start of the Benitez administration.

She served as a pro bono consultant for special projects and economics affairs of Benitez in the latter part of 2022, and was the outgoing head of the Capitol’s Economic Enterprise Development Department (EEDD) when the mayor named her as incoming city administrator.

Gelvolea told the SP that she availed of early retirement as EEDD head and applied for the city administrator post.

She said that Benitez’s challenge is for her to be able to implement the programs identified in the Executive-Legislative Agenda, with tangible outputs for the good of Bacolodnons, based on the vision to make Bacolod a super city, with diverse economy and booming infrastructure. | CGC
