Relentless police anti-drug campaign in Negros Occidental led to the arrest of 125 suspected drug personalities in March, a report of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 showed.
Of the number, 94 were apprehended by the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office while 31, by the Bacolod City Police Office.
All over Western Visayas, the police accounted for a total of 242 drug suspects, which also led to the confiscation of 6.7 kilos of suspected shabu, and 42 grams of dried marijuana leaves, with a market value of P45.624 million.
The Iloilo PPP arrested 42 drug suspects; Iloilo City Police Office – 39, Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) – 14; Capiz PPO – 8; Aklan PPO – 6; Antique and Guimaras Police Provincial Ofices – 4 each.
The RPDEU-6 has the highest drug haul of about 3.374 kilos of shabu, followed by Iloilo City Police Office, 1.369 kilos of shabu; and Iloilo PPO, 651 grams.
Negros Occidental, Capiz and Aklan have total recovery of marijuana weighing 27, 10 and five grams, respectively.
In a statement, PLt. Col. Arnel Solis, officer-in-charge of PRO-6 Regional Public Information Office, said that the successful campaign was the result of the directive of regional director Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky for all drug enforcement units in the region to sustain their efforts down to the local police stations. | GB
