1,200 Victoriasanon scholars receive educational assistance

The Victorias City government has released the City Mayor’s Office Educational Assistance to 1,200 Victoriasanon students for the second semester of this school year.

The disbursement at Don Alejandro Yap Quiña Cultural Center Aug. 15 is a continuing scholarship program that began during the administration of then mayor and now 4tf District Rep. Javier Miguel Benitez, the city said.

Councilor Juvy Pepello, chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Education, expressed the city’s continued commitment to supporting students in their pursuit of academic success.

Councilor Trisha Mae Majan, chairperson of the SP Committee on Youth and Sports Development, meanwhile, urged the grantees to make the most of the opportunity and strive for excellence in their studies.

On behalf of all the beneficiaries, scholar Arjohn Tornea, a Bachelor of Science in Criminology student from the University of Negros Occidental–Recoletos in Bacolod, expressed his gratitude to the city government for its unwavering support to the youth.

The event was also attended by Vice Mayor Derek Palanca, councilors Jappy Cuaycong and Vincent Roa, and Hecell Policarpio of the Office of the Congressman.

The city government will continue to invest in educational programs as part of its mission to empower the younger generation and ensure access to opportunities that contribute to personal growth and community development, the press release said. ||
