12-hour brownout Saturday in Bacolod, Silay

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) will shut down its Bacolod-Silay 69kilovolt transmission line, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, that will affect the Burgos, Mt. View, Talisay, Panaogao, and Silay substations of the Central Negros Electric Cooperative.

Ceneco general manager Danny Pondevilla said this afternoon, Nov. 9, that areas to be affected by the 12-hour outage include those in the BF1 feeder, like Villa Homes, Villa Angela Relocation Site, Regent Pearl, Helvetia Heights, SaveMore, Panasiatic Solutions, Lopue’s East Annex (Bowling Center), Trinity Christian School, New Government Center, and Burgos Street, among others;

BF2 including Capitol Hills, Colegio de San Agustin, PNP headquarters, Magsaysay Street, among others; BF3 from Camingawan Substation to Alangilan; BF4 along Sofia Gonzaga Avenue to CHMSC Fortune Town, and Abkasa, among others.

Pondevilla said the power interruption is part of the preventive maintenance schedule of the NGCP, including the relocation of pole structures inside the Bacolod substation, and load transfer of Mt. View, Talisay and Lopez substations from Bacolod-Silay 69kV transmission line to Cadiz-Silay 69kV TL.

From 6 a.m. to 12 noon of Nov. 13, there will also be a power outage affecting the PF1 McKinley Road from Silay Substation to the Silay Airport, and Brgy. Bagtic; PF2 from Panao-gao Substation to McKinley Gomez, St. Theresita’s Academy, Silay Institute, Equitable Bank, Ice Plant, Ceneco SFO, Brgy. Guinhalaran, and major part of Silay proper, the Ceneco advisory shows.

Power interruption will also occur from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m., and from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. affecting the MF1 feeder, from Lopue’s Mandalagan, Bangga Subay, to Carmelite Monastery and Bombo Radyo; MF2 from Magdalene Ville, La Salle Avenue, University of St. La Salle, among others; MF3 or Lacson Street; MF4 or Bata Subdivision to the Bacolod Golf & Country Club; MF5 or the Robinsons Commercial Complex;

TF1 northside areas from Talisay substation to the highway; TF2 southside areas, TF3, LF1, LF2 or provincial hospital, and LF3, from Hawaiian Central to portion of Brgy. Lantad.

Normal operation will immediately resume after completion of these activities, Pondevilla said as he advised electricity consumers to turnoff switches for safety reasons. — CGC
