10 quakes rock Mount Kanlaon

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on Thursday (April 24) reported 10 more volcanic earthquakes at Kanlaon Volcano, which remains under Alert Level 3.

According to its bulletin, the earthquakes were recorded from midnight of April 23 to midnight of April 24.

During the same period, the volcano emitted more than 2,736 tons of sulfur dioxide, with plumes reaching a height of 150 meters.

Ground deformation has also been observed, with the volcano’s edifice still inflated.

Since April 20, Phivolcs logged a total of 52 earthquakes at Kanlaon Volcano until midnight of Thursday. | GB
