In the 2022 congressional race, Yulo defeated then incumbent Rep. Maria Lourdes Arroyo despite being an independent candidate.

Fifth District Board Member Anthony Dennis Occeño, who is the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) provincial chairman, is reported to be eyeing to challenge Yulo’s reelection bid.

Rep. Gerardo Valmayor (First District), Rep. Mercedes Alvarez (Sixth District) and Rep. Greg Gasataya (Bacolod Lone District) are members of the Nationalist People’s Coalition while Rep. Alfredo Marañon III (Second District) and Rep. Juliet Marie Ferrer (Fourth District) are both affiliated with the National Unity Party.
