The World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) Philippines will once again hold auditions in Bacolod City tomorrow, Sept. 6, at SM City Bacolod event center, with registration set to start 11 a.m.

Known globally as the “Talent Olympics”, WCOPA brings together performers from more than 70 countries to compete in acting, singing, dancing, modeling, instrumental music, and variety arts.

Finalists represent their nations in the annual competition held in California.

From the streets of La Castellana to the world stage, the Bailes de Luces troupe triumphed at WCOPA 2024 in Long Beach, California, bringing home the Senior Grand World Champion–Dance Group title.

The Philippines has produced several world champions, including Iloilo’s Jed Madela (2005), Aria Clemente of Santa Rosa Laguna (2007), Aria Clemente of Santa Rosa, Laguna (2007), Rhap Salazar of Biñan, Laguna (2009), and Rose Mamaclay of San Juan City (2010).

More recently, Thed Maglocot of Iloilo was named Junior Grand Champion Performer of the World in 2023, while the Bailes de Luces dance group from La Castellana, Negros Occidental, earned the title Senior Grand World Champion-Dance Group of the World in 2024.

The auditions at SM City Bacolod will offer Negrense talents – from singers, dancers, actors, models, instrumentalists, to variety artists – the opportunity to follow in their footsteps and possibly represent the Philippines in the 28th Annual WCOPA in July 2026. ||
