A woman was gunned down by unidentified men on a motorcycle while she was in a tricycle near a shopping mall on South Capitol Road in Bacolod City at around 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20.
Police identified the victim as Medelyn Junco Benignos, 29, a resident of Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2.
A report of Police Station 2 said that Benignos, a resident of Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2, sustained gunshot wounds in the head.
She just came from an adjacent shopping mall, where she was renting a stall for her business, when the assailants drove near the tricycle and fired at her.
The tricycle driver and his wife, who was behind him, were unharmed.
Investigators recovered two cartridge cases and two slugs of a still undetermined caliber of firearm.
They are looking into the personal background of the victim as part of the investigation. – NND
