The Office of Vice President Sara Duterte is warning the public about activities involving the illegal collection of money, made on behalf of the OVP, by unscrupulous individuals or groups.
“Reports from Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, said an individual has been asking for P50 from each person, who wanted to avail of monetary aid from VP Sara,” the OVP said in an advisory July 19.
“This is a scam. Kindly report activities like this to the police station, or any local authorities,” the advisory said, adding that OVP programs could be accessed via the official platforms, namely facebook.com/TanggapanNgPangalawangPangulo or facebook.com/MayorIndaySaraDuterteOfficial, the OVP central office, www.ovp.gov.ph, or various satellite offices.
In Negros Occidental, the OVP satellite office is at Mosser Building at Goldenfield commercial complex in Bacolod City.
Other OVP satellite offices are in Legazpi City in Albay that opened earlier today, July 19, as well as in the cities of Davao, Zamboanga, Cotabato, Surigao, Cebu, Tacloban, Isabela, and Dagupan.
Meanwhile, the OVP said its Bacolod Satellite Office (SO) planted 4,000 tree seedlings in line with the launching of the “PagbaBAGo: A Million Learners and Trees” campaign nationwide in May.
The city SO targets to plant 10,000 more seedlings by the end of this month, it said, adding that nationwide, 28,436 trees were planted by the OVP’s 10 SOs in their respective areas.
Duterte thanked key agencies and partners for the support extended for the successful launching of the PagbaBAGo program, which is aimed at preserving the environment by planting one million trees all over the country until 2028.
“It is very important that we take care of our environment now for the benefit of the next generation,” the VP said in a statement, adding the program also aims to provide one million backpacks with basic education materials and dental kits to youth across the country./CGC
