Almost 50,000 students in 88 schools in Negros have been affected by the eruption of Mt. Kanlaon, as of Jan. 2, the Department of Education (DepEd) said.
Records of the DepEd indicated that 49,577 students have shifted to alternative delivery modes (ADMs) of education, of which 31,935 learners are under the Schools Division of Negros Occidental and 17,642 learners under the Schools Division of La Carlota City.
ADMs are flexible ways to provide basic education to students who may not be able to access traditional schooling.
Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo said Jan. 2 that face-to-face classes for elementary and high school are still suspended in Moises Padilla, until further notice.
Similar announcements were also made by La Castellana town and La Carlota City due to the unpredictable activity of Kanlaon volcano. | GB
