Victorias Milling Company (VMC) has been stepping up on its community service programs in several barangays in the cities of Victorias and Cadiz and municipality of Manapla in Negros Occidental.

With the support of local officials, community volunteers, the 79th Infantry Battalion, 605th Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion-6, and the local police, VMC extended assistance during the surgical-medical-dental missions in communities that fall under the constituency of the mill.

“We have been expanding our community programs to Victorias barangays surrounding VMC and in Manapla and at times also in Barangays Sicaba and Caduha-an in Cadiz City,” said lawyer Eva Rodriguez, VMC administrative officer.

Dentists and other community volunteers join the surgical-medical-dental missions initiated by Victorias Milling Company.

Apart from the medical-dental missions, VMC also provides haircut and feeding programs with the help of various law enforcement agencies.

“We saw how well received and needed these services are and VMC decided to make these medical missions regular by conducting at least one each month in Barangay Purisima in Manapla and every other month in Victorias’ communities, with special schedules of barangays in Cadiz City,” Rodriguez said.

With the school opening around the corner, VMC will also continue the reading enrichment tutorial every Friday for elementary pupils who need help in reading comprehension skills.

The “Catch-up Fridays” reading intervention program, which is conducted by volunteer VMC employees, started in the last school year.

Since 2021, VMC has helped thousands of residents and school children in their various localities in line with the company’s wellness program and enhancing education, including scholarships for high school and college students as part of their thrusts. | PR
