A total of 635 Victoriasanons completed their community work under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (Tupad) program, with the payout held at the Don Alejandro Acuña Yap Quiña Arts and Cultural Center recently.
The beneficiaries from barangays VI, VII, XV, XV-A, XVI, XVI-A, and XVIII were provided with short-term employment for 10 days, and received a salary of P4,800 each, funded through the congressional fund of former Rep. and now Tesda director-general Jose Francisco Benitez, the city said Nov. 28.
The Tupad program of the Department of Labor and Employment offers a community-based emergency employment assistance package for displaced workers, underemployed individuals, and seasonal workers.
The Victoriasanon beneficiaries participated in community and social projects, including waste clearing and segregation, unclogging of waterways, and repair and maintenance of public facilities, such as schools and health centers.
These activities not only contributed to the community’s welfare but also provided displaced workers with means to regain stability during challenging times, the city said.
Culture and Ethics officer and chief-of-staff Joselito Diaz, representing City Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez, delivered a message to the beneficiaries during the payout also attended by councilors Derek Palanca, Dino Acuña, Dexter Senido, and Danilo De Asis Jr., Talisay City Councilor Rolin Meliton, Barangay XX kagawad Jappy Cuaycong, and Tupad coordinator LG Figueroa, among others. ||
