The Victorias local government strengthened its enforcement of business regulations as several establishments operating without the required permits were ordered closed, in line with City Ordinance No. 07-2015, the city said Dec. 17.

The first round of padlocking took place Nov. 28 at the Victorias Commercial Center, where six business establishments were closed for failing to secure their permits.

Enforcement continued Dec. 1, also at the VCC, resulting in the closure of five more establishments.

On Dec. 2, one establishment at the NNJ Building in Bangga Daan, Barangay 13, was likewise ordered closed.

The joint enforcement drive was led by the Business Permits and Licensing Office, under City Administrator Atty. Meddie Arbolado Jr., in coordination with the City Legal Office, headed by City Legal Officer Atty. Ignacio Santillana.

The operations were supported by the Joint Inspection Team, with representatives from the City Health Office, City Environment and Natural Resources Office, City Planning and Development Office, City Engineering Office, and the City Treasurer’s Office.

Police personnel also assisted during the padlocking to ensure proper implementation and observance of due process, the city said in a press release.

These operations reflect the city government’s firm commitment to good governance, fair competition, and full compliance with the Victorias Revenue Code.

“The city government reminds all business operators to secure and regularly update their permits, to maintain order, accountability, and a healthy environment for sustainable economic growth in Victorias,” it added. ||
