Victorias awards champions of Tingog sang Kadalag-an

Victorias City hailed a new set of Tingog sang Kadalag-an champions after 21 up-and-coming singers competed in the jampacked grand finals at the public plaza March 20.

Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez highlighted the competition’s 12-year legacy in his message, stating, “Tingog sang Kadalag-an has been here since 2013, and for 12 years, this competition is consistent in discovering Victoriasanons with golden voices.”

He commended the contestants for their energy and performances in the opening production and later surprised the audience by announcing that he would double the cash prizes of the winners.

The 21 grand finalists, from 175 aspiring Victoriasanon singers, competed in three categories: five in the Junior, 11 in the Open, and five in the Battle of the Champions.

Rolly Beloria won the Battle of the Champions, ang took home P40,000 in cash prize; Ella Mae Depacaquivo triumphed in the Open category, and was P30,000 richer that night; while Angela Ayola secured the Junior category top spot and received P20,000.

The other grand finalists bagged P6,000 as consolation prize, the city said.

Victoriasanon pride and Tawag ng Tanghalan Season 1 grand champion Noven Belleza, meanwhile, captivated the audience as guest performer with his powerful vocal performance of signature Air Supply medley.

The judges included variety and noontime show veteran, director Agapito Balagtas III, ABS-CBN Entertainment Division and Starhunt Management’s Mark Sembrano Cabrera, and talent coordinator Mylene De Leon.

The search for Tingog sang Kadalag-an is an annual singing competition and one of the major highlights of the Kadalag-an Festival. ||
