Toboso Mayor Richard Jaojoco said he is confident that his team will defeat whoever will challenge them in the elections next year.

Jaojoco’s wife, Madonna, will be fielded by the United Negros Alliance for the Toboso mayoralty post, in tandem with Maria Luisa dela Cruz, former president of the Association of Barangay Captains.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, of Love Negros, earlier said they will choose either former mayor Evelio Valencia or incumbent Vice Mayor Jesse Rex Bartolome as candidate for mayor of the town.

Madonna Jaojoco is the niece of the late Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr.

“Our team is prepared for whoever will run against us,” Jaojoco, who will run for councilor of Toboso after his term as mayor ends June 30 next year, said.

Jaojoco even challenged their opponents to conduct a survey among Toboseños on who they want to be mayor of their town.

“I confidently believe that the political maturity and awareness of my people is already high. They cannot be swayed anymore by money,” he claimed.

UNegA secretary general Salvador Escalante Jr. and Lacson admitted that Toboso and Isabela cannot be settled by both political groups, as their respective members are determined to run against each other, despite the political alliance.

“Politics now is about leaders having a new mind set and thinking out of the box,” Jaojoco said. – GB
