Eight local government units (LGUs) in Negros Occidental badly hit by Typhoon Tino in November last year will receive a total of P50-million assistance from the Presidential Assistance Fund (PAF).
“This was based on the families affected by Typhoon Tino,” Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II said.
Moises Padilla, La Castellana, and La Carlota City will get P10 million each while Bago City, Hinigaran, and Binalbagan, P5 million each.
Isabela and Pontevedra will be given P2.5 million each.
The distribution of the P50-million assistance, which was released by Malacañang to the provincial government, was delayed due to documentation processes, following the resignation of Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.
The recommendation of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson on how to distribute the financial aid to the affected LGUs was already submitted to the Provincial Board for concurrence.
“Initially, the provincial government suggested giving P5,000 each to owners of either destroyed or partially damaged houses. But the governor decided to allow the concerned local government executives to decide on it instead,” Diaz said. | GB
