The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported two ash emissions at Mt. Kanlaon in Negros Island on Feb. 28.
The volcano remains under Alert Level 3, indicating that “magmatic eruption has begun and may progress to further explosive eruptions.”
According to the Phivolcs, the emission generated grayish plumes that rose up to 150 meters above the summit crater before drifting west to southwest.
It also recorded 1,920 tons of sulfur dioxide emission from the crater on Feb. 27 and logged three volcanic quakes. | GB
