The two suspects in the killing of a Turkish national in Ilog, Negros Occidental on March 22 have already been arrested, the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) confirmed on Monday, March 23.

Investigation showed the 57-year-old victim was attacked and mauled by the suspects while traversing a sugarcane field in Sitio Mampuso, Barangay Canlamay.

Before the incident, the victim, a resident of Barangay Cabug, Bacolod City, had a drinking spree with a female companion.

The Turkish national succumbed to head injuries, the police report said.

Joint police and military follow-up operations led to the arrest of the live-in partners, who are both residents of Barangay Canlamay.

The 35-year-old male suspect, who admitted killing the victim, said his action was motivated by robbery.

He revealed that the attack was premeditated, and it was planned together with his live-in partner, who lured the victim.

Authorities recovered the victim’s personal belongings, including a car key and his prosthetic leg, gloves, sweatshirt, and a black t-shirt used to hide the face of the male suspect.

The identities of the victim and the two suspects, however, were withheld by the police.

PRO-NIR Director PBrig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay commended the operating units for their prompt and coordinated response, which led to the immediate solution of the crime. | GB
