TUP-V to pilot radio-based instruction in 3rd District

A 10-watt low power Frequency Modulation (FM) radio station will soon rise at the Technological University of the Philippines-Visayas campus in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

The FM station will be set up by TUP-V experts, with a P1.5 million financial aid from Rep. Francisco Benitez of the 3rd district of Negros Occidental.

It will air instructional and educational modules to students within a 10 to 20 kilometer-radius, eight hours daily from Monday to Friday, according to a press statement issued by the congressional office of Benitez.

The facility is also designed for hands-on laboratory study and emergency disaster preparedness and response system.

District officer Paz Marie Valenciano, who represented Rep. Benitez, turned over the financial assistance to TUP-V campus director Eric Malooy, as witnessed by Dr. Leonor Validor, vice president for Planning and Development; Engr. Nelson Franco, assistant director for Research and Extension; Grace Delumpa, assistant director for Administration and Finance, and Engr. Joshua Berja, assistant director for Academic Affairs. – GB
