Tribu Sumilaw of clustered barangays Four, Five, and Buluangan, represented by Don Carlos Ledesma National High School (DCLNHS), clinched the grand champion title of San Carlos City’s Pintaflores Festival ritual dancing showdown Nov. 5.
The performers, who also bagged the Best in Choreography award, took home P150,000 in cash prize.
Tribu Valmorados Lupedad of barangays Two, Prosperidad, and Guadalupe, and represented by Central Philippine State University (CPSU), secured the first runner-up spot, for a cash prize of P100,000. They also won the Best in Floral Facepaint.
Tribu Busilak of barangays Quezon, Codcod, and Tres, represented by Quezon National High School (QNHS), placed second runner-up and received P50,000 in cash.
Tribu Euzkara of barangays Palampas, Rizal, and Nataban, represented by Julio Ledesma National High School; Tribu Lumad Sipawaynon, which bagged the Best in Instrumentation, Best in Pintaflores Costume, and Best in Street Dancing; and Tribu Bagnao-Uno, which won Best in Floral Catsuit, ranked third, fourth, and fifth runners-up, respectively, the city said.
“I am beyond proud of how this year’s competition turned out—it was truly grander than ever! The contingents gave their all, and everyone loved the performances; there was so much energy and vibrance, and the excitement was contagious!” San Carlos Mayor Renato Gustilo said in a post Nov. 7.
He added: “The passion, creativity, and energy were breathtaking. It brought me so much joy to see the crowd captivated. I can’t wait to see more incredible performances next year! Vamos San Carlos!”
Guest performers from Victorias City’s Sidlak Kadalag-an Festival, the municipality of Murcia’s Tinabuay Festival, and Canlaon City’s Pasayaw Festival also wowed the spectators and added vibrant energy to the Pintaflores Festival celebration.
Councilor Philip Gerard Maisog, chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Tourism, said that this year’s ritual dance competition introduced a fresh style, with the committee and participants engaging in intensive workshops to elevate the festival and adapt to changing times.
Maisog thanked the entire Pintaflores Festival committee, City Tourism Office, choreographers, and everyone involved for creating a successful and memorable event. ||
