Traffic accident victim yields gun

Bacolod Police Station 7 personnel seized a 9mm Armscor pistol loaded with nine bullets from a man, who figured in a road accident at Bangga Adila, Barangay Mansilingan- Murcia Road in Bacolod City at about 4:20 p.m. June 27.

Investigator on case, Patrolman Acer Jacildo, in a report to station commander, P/Captain Andy Ofalia, said that Benjie Varona, 44, of Purok Minuro in Brgy. Abu- Abo, Murcia, was driving a Honda TMX 155 while under the influence of liquor, when his motorcycle collided with a tricycle.

Varona sustained injuries in the head and was being given first aid by Cropper Rescue Unit personnel when they saw a gun tucked in his waist.

When responding police personnel asked for pertinent gun documents, Varona failed to provide any, so he was arrested and is now in the custody of Police Station 7 for violation of Republic Act 10591, or illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, Jacildo added./CGC
