Basketball stars Roger Pogoy, Jayson Castro, Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser, Kim Aurin, and Calvin Oftana of the TNT Tropang Giga flew over to the Visayas to bring smiles to the faces of Bacolodnons at the PLDT and Smart Store in SM Bacolod, following their visit to the Smart headquarters in Makati City.
For RJ Bermudez, a frontliner at the store, this event has brought giga saya to them as employees, and to the customers and fans of the basketball team.
“We are so grateful because after eight long years, they were able to visit our store again in Bacolod. It turned out to be very successful and we are so happy about it,” he shared.
When asked who his favorite ka-Tropa is, RJ smiled when he answered, “Of course, Jayson Castro! We met eight years ago. He’s one of the best players in PBA, and he remains a very good man, so he’s my favorite player.”
Team captain Jayson Castro also had fond memories of Bacolod, and even remembered RJ from his visit eight years ago. “I remember the food and the warm hospitality of the people. They really make you feel right at home here in Bacolod.”
Fans, customers, and employees had the chance to take photos, get signed merchandise, interact, and even play games with the basketball stars, who came out to play ball at the PBA All-Star Weekend in Bacolod City last month.
TNT and Smart postpaid customers also had exclusive photo opportunity and merchandise signing perks with the players during the event, a press release said.
“We had so much fun interacting with you guys today. Thank you for hosting us in your beautiful city,” Rosser told the fans, who came out to support TNT Tropang Giga.
The initiative was part of Smart’s commitment to elevating customer experience and support for sports, by bringing athletes closer to their fans beyond the hard court. ||
