Easter Sunday is the most important day in human history. Without the resurrection, the cross would be only a symbol of suffering, and our faith would be empty. But because Christ is risen, everything changes.
Death is defeated. Sin is conquered. Hope is alive. The resurrection is not a legend or a metaphor. It is a historical fact that transforms every believer’s life.
Matthew 28:5–6 records the angel’s words to the women at the tomb: “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; He has risen, just as He said!”
The tomb was empty. The promise was fulfilled. Jesus had done exactly what He said He would do.
First, the resurrection proves that Jesus is who He claimed to be.
Many people are willing to call Jesus a good teacher or a moral prophet. But Jesus claimed to be the Son of God, the Savior of the world, and the resurrection and the life. Anyone can make claims.
The resurrection is God’s proof that Jesus was telling the truth. Romans 1:4 says that Jesus “was declared to be the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead.”
If Jesus rose from the dead, then He has authority over everything, over sin, over death, over your past, over your future. The resurrection is God’s stamp of approval on everything Jesus said and did.
You can trust His teachings. You can trust His promises. You can trust His salvation.
The empty tomb is the ultimate answer to the question, “Who is this?” He is the risen Lord.
Second, the resurrection can change the lives of people.
The resurrection is not only a past event to be believed. It is a present power to be experienced.
Look at the disciples. Before the resurrection, they were scattered, fearful, and hiding behind locked doors. After the resurrection, they became bold preachers willing to die for their faith. Something radical happened to them. They encountered the risen Christ.
The same power that raised Jesus from the dead can change your life today. Romans 6:4 says, “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”
The resurrection brings new life. It turns fear into courage. Grief into hope. Guilt into forgiveness. Meaninglessness into purpose.
Have you experienced the power of the resurrection in your own life? It is not enough to believe that Jesus rose from the dead two thousand years ago.
You must encounter the risen Christ today. He can change your habits. He can change your future. The same power that opened the grave can open any locked door in your life.
The resurrection of Jesus is not only a historical event to be celebrated one day a year. It is a living reality to be experienced every day.
Because He lives, we can face tomorrow. Because He lives, all fear is gone. Because He lives, our lives can be changed. He is risen! He is risen indeed! | NWI
