Bacolod Environment and Natural Resources Office (BENRO) personnel removed debris and cleared overgrown grass around the temporary storage facilities at the City Agriculture Office (CAO) compound in Barangay Alijis, per order of Mayor Greg Gasataya.
This is in preparation for a comprehensive inventory of government supplies, the city said in a press release Sept. 10.
The mayor stressed that this cleanup is the initial step in ensuring that the facilities remain a strategic asset for the city’s preparedness initiatives.

“This facility was used as a stockpile of construction materials, and its current state reflects clear neglect of public resources. As we ordered an inventory of materials, this clearing operation is a necessary step to ensure greater accuracy and transparency in the process,” Gasataya stressed.
This action followed Gasataya’s inspection of City Engineer’s Office (CEO) warehouses last weekend, which revealed around 4,800 hardened cement bags within the Bacolod City College compound in Barangay Taculing, along with an additional 100 unusable cement bags at the CEO warehouse in Alijis.
The mayor also announced the formation of a new supply team to manage the inventory process once the temporary facilities are prepared. A disposal committee, meanwhile, will be established to assess the possibility of repurposing or donating the hardened cement, the city said.
Two CEO officials had received notices to explain, and four other employees were issued show-cause orders over the wasted supplies, it added. ||
