The 17-year-old girl, whose body was found at the reclamation area in Bacolod City on Oct. 22, died of asphyxia due to strangulation, Police Station 3 chief PCapt. Francis Depasucat said.

It is also possible that she was molested, based on the autopsy results.

The Bacolod City Police Office has created a Special Investigation Task Group to expedite justice for the victim.

Police investigators are trying to establish whether the victim was killed at the site or her body was just dumped at the Reclamation Area.

Mayor Greg Gasataya has offered a P100,000 bounty for any person, who may provide information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the death of the victim.

In a statement, Gasataya said he strongly condemns the killing of the teenager, which he described as a cruel and despicable act.

He also ordered the Bacolod City Police Office to exert their best effort to locate those involved in the heinous crime. | GB
